The newest generation Pentastar 3.6 V6 Engine, or PUG (Pentastar Upgrade Engine), is known to have odd torque delivery, a stutter/hesitation sensation during low load acceleration around 1800 and 2800 RPM, and to feel sluggish in our heavy Jeeps.
Tuning from BMP Calibrations optimizes spark timing, variable cam timing, torque management, throttle response, wide open throttle fueling, part throttle fueling, and more to make your 3.6 feel the way it should have felt from the factory. Gains of 30 horsepower and 30 torque are possible with 93 octane fuel. More moderate gains of 10 horsepower and 10 torque are achieved with 87 octane fuel.
Power numbers are only a small piece of the puzzle. BMP developed tuning on the 3.6 platform with one main thing in mind - BETTER DRIVE-ABILITY. Usable torque under 3500 RPM. A more refined and smoother running engine. Better throttle response. All while maintaining or even improving fuel efficiency and maintaining emissions compliance and any remaining factory warranty.

Transmission Tuning
The 8 Speed 850RE transmission and it’s sibling ZF8 transmission are some of the best transmissions in the business, pairing top notch reliability with great shift quality.
Unfortunately, from the factory, they are programmed to keep the RPM low and slow. Jeep programmed the transmission to work best with small lightweight tires, which, let’s face it, few people keep on their Jeeps! Transmission tuning from BMP Calibrations completely remaps upshift and downshift scheduling, keeping the engine RPM where you want it and where you need it at all times. The transmission is always in the right gear, and always ready to downshift to the right gear for passing or more aggressive driving with a transmission tune from BMP Calibrations.
Additionally, BMP Calibrations enhances shift quality itself within the transmission. Through months of testing and development, BMP came up with a calibration that makes shifts seamless and smooth but clean and less sloppy than stock with the perfect feel for daily driving. Wide open throttle shifts are quick and firm to reduce heat and wear in the transmission, but still smooth enough to not break anything.

Other Tuning Benefits
BMP Calibrations can do other cool things during the tune process, including shutting off auto stop start and reducing the temperature at which your cooling fans turn on to help manage high coolant temperatures in the engine. BMP does these things by default on most of his base tune files.
BMP Calibrations uses HP Tuners and the VCM Suite of applications for all custom tuning. As such, customers can use their own HP Tuners MPVI device at home to do other cool things, such as:
-Adjust speedometer for gear/tire size changes
-Disable electric power steering
-Manually activate cooling fans as needed
-Read and clear DTCs (Check Engine Light)
-Reset Adaptives
Additionally, the MPVI devices from HP Tuners can be used on a variety of vehicles from GM, Ford, Dodge, Jeep, Ram, Polaris, Yamaha, Harley Davidson, and more. Your device can be used to tune all of these vehicles as well.
